Welcome to the website of Northeast Florida's great triathlon club, HammerHead Triathlon Club, founded in 1999 with our first appearance on the racing scene in 2000 at the Gate River Run. Our membership has grown from our first few members to over 800, mostly from the Jacksonville area but includes people from other cities and states as well. We meet monthly during the year and hold socials and training sessions during the racing season. HammerHeads promote safe training and encourage all members to train at their level and to enjoy the benefits of healthy living and the great Florida weather. We raise money for local charities through our memberships and races we sponsor. Contact a board member if you have questions about our club of great athletes and people!
In 2011, the Hammerhead Triathlon Club became the most successful triathlon club in the history of the USAT National Club Challenge. Competing with teams from 84 clubs across the country, we won nine categories including Most Bike Miles in Nation and Most Run Miles in Nation. We also had the most adjusted miles in the nation (grand prize) and set a new USAT club record by logging 7,104.32 miles in a single month, shattering the previous record by more than 1,180 miles! The 84 clubs and 2,240 athletes that participated combined to tally 1,000,770 weighted training miles from Dec. 1, 2010, through Feb. 28, 2011.
