Thanks to all who attended our meeting tonight at Brooks YMCA for our November club meeting.
Angie and Dustin Crawford had taken some of the pictures from this past weekend’s Ironman Florida and made a slide show to present as we were socializing. Thanks for those pictures!
There were several new members and potential members in attendance; we hope we made a good impression!
We congratulated the IMF finishers who were in attendance at the meeting. Shawn Burke, Saswata Roy, Joy Murphy, Kathy Hunken, Terri Derkum, Kim Kaye, Carl Zeilman, Sonya Hoener, Shawn Francis, Martin Kotowski, and I were there to talk about our adventures (while the pictures played on the big screen!).
This weekend, there are races in Miami (Good Luck to Will Taylor, Heather Burke, Terri Derkum, Julie Pippins, Sue Briers, Liz Boudreaux who are doing the half or Olympic distance) and Nevada (The Silverman Irondistance race, Susan Haag’s 3rd ironman in three weeks – and this is the toughest!).
Also, in Clearwater, the 70.3 World Championships are being held. Good luck to club members JC Pinto, Walter Arnold, Kevin Neal and Kathy Kaye. Stacie Hernandez had qualified, but just finished a great race in IMF so will not compete in Clearwater.
The newsletter was printed for the meeting and will be on line soon. There are lots of color pictures you will want to see! There is also a list of people who need to renew their membership, so please take a look!
Information about the swim clinic on Nov 22 at Julington Creek is in there, in addition to some clinics in Clermont at the National Training Center.
I have a code to allow 15% off the registration fee for the Miami International Triathlon on March 15, 2009. Email me and I will send it to you. This is a good race, from what the club members who did it last year said.
Ironman Kansas also has a $50 discount if you ask me about it.
Girls on the Run needs some RUNNING BUDDIES for their 5K on December 13 at UNF. They have their biggest season yet, with 585 girls registered!

Girls on the Run is our charity this year and this is another way to support them. It is a lot of fun!
Angie Crawford talked about the National Club Challenge (which begins Dec 1 as the swim month), the Brick Fest (which is 7 Bricks in 7 Days), and the End of Year party at our next meeting. All these are listed in the newsletter.
Our speaker was Mark Corley, the age-group swim coach and masters swim coach at the Julington Creek Pool. He spoke about ways to improve your stroke this winter, resistance training, motivation to swim (when it is cold!) and answered member questions. He also encouraged us to take advantage of the swim clinic being offered at his pool for $40 (instead of the normal $119) for HammerHead members.
